Are WhatsApp Polls Anonymous? The Honest Answer (2026)

WhatsApp can hide voter names on polls. See when that is enough and when a link poll still helps across groups or QR codes.

Short answer: WhatsApp now has a built-in option to hide voter names on group polls. On 4 August 2026, WhatsApp announced that polls can “hide voter names” so the group is more comfortable sharing preferences. WhatsApp hasn't said whether the poll creator can still see votes when names are hidden.

When the built-in option is enough

If everyone is already in a single WhatsApp group and has WhatsApp, the built-in poll with hide voter names is often enough for a quick decision.

When a link poll still helps

A link poll is still useful when you need:

• One poll shared across several groups or channels
• People outside the group or without WhatsApp
• A QR code for in-person use
• A results page anyone can view later
• Classroom or office mode on shared Wi-Fi

How to run a link poll in WhatsApp

1. Go to anonpolls.com
2. Type your question and the options. No signup required.
3. Click "Create Poll." You get a shareable link.
4. Paste the link in your WhatsApp group (or several groups).
5. People tap the link, vote in the browser, and can return to WhatsApp.

AnonPolls does not collect accounts or names. Creators see only totals, never who voted for what. To limit repeat votes, it stores a one-way hash of the voter's network address with the vote, not the address itself. In classroom or office mode, each browser can vote once instead of each network.
